Marriage License

Marriage Licenses are valid in the State of Wyoming only for a period of one year from the date of issue. No blood test is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to obtain a license without parental consent. For detailed information on marriage licenses, please read Wyoming State Statutes 20-1-101 through 20-1-113.

Applicants under the age of 16 must have a court order before a license can be issued.

Requirements

Before applying for a license, applicants need to know and provide the following information on the Marriage License Application listed on the left side:
  • Place of birth for both Mother and Father
  • Mother's maiden name
  • Social security numbers and photo IDs for both applicants: We prefer to have each person provide identification which shows the social security number. This helps to avoid having the wrong information on a legal document, which may cause problems for the happy couple later on.
  • Residential address
  • Age of each applicant
  • If prior marriages, the date and state of dissolution
Note: Rules were adopted by the State of Wyoming on April 21, 2008 as follows:
  1. Obtain the information required for the completion of the certificate with the exception of that regarding the ceremony
  2. Secure the signatures of the people to be married on the certificate. This means that both people will be required to sign the application/certificate.
